Programs & Initiatives

Teach Access works to build a foundation of accessibility and disability knowledge in the higher education community. Working with faculty, staff, and administration, Teach Access provides accessibility-infused college curricula for students in fields such as design, computer sciences, and human-computer interaction to ensure they enter the workforce and create technologies that are born-accessible.

Accessibility Skills Gap

Teach Access is creating a new Accessibility Skills Gap Report and we need your help! We were inspired by the 2018 Skills Gap Research Findings Report released by the Partnership on Employment and Accessible Technology (PEAT). A lot has happened since 2018, and we want to know where gaps exist in 2022. We updated the questions and data so that the new report will accurately reflect the accessibility skills that currently exist within the workforce, measure changes since 2018, and highlight new focus areas that can help us all improve.
Teach Access has updated the questions and is distributing them again to capture an understanding of the current state of accessibility skills within the workforce, and to measure changes to the accessible technology skills gap.

Faculty Grants

To accelerate the creation and delivery of accessibility-infused college curricula, Teach Access provides monetary awards to higher education faculty to develop curriculum enhancements that introduce the fundamental concepts and skills of accessibility into their existing courses.

Student Career Development Series

The Student Career Development Series is a program for college students and recent graduates. It is an opportunity to network, meet our partners, and learn about career trends, preparing for internships and jobs, what it’s like to work in different industries, at a specific company, and other topics geared toward career development.

Study Away

Since 2018, the Teach Access Study Away Program has brought together students, faculty, and industry partners to explore the field of accessibility. This program is a great opportunity to learn about accessibility and network with a wide variety of people in higher education, industry, and advocacy organizations.
